Aquatic Summer Festivities!

ARPG Events 25 July 2026 - 1 September 2026

Vacation!

Every year, the changing seasons bring with it the arrival of warm water to the lower half of the Shengdao continent. Known as Yinglong’s Current, these shifting tides traditionally spell a time of prosperity in the ocean. The coral reefs are flooded with valuable nutrients- and where the food is, the Aquatic Shiji-Long will follow. For a long time, the Aquatic Shiji-Long celebrated this bounty on their own. It wasn’t until much more modern history that the festival began to open up to more than just the gilled. With time, the arrival of Yinglong’s Current has become not just a time of plenty in the oceans, but also as a necessary time for bonding between the waves and the sea.

Welcome to the Halawai Festival!

Tropical island Necklace!

A custom held over from the Aquatic celebrations. Many Aquatics will use necklaces as tokens of courting to those they want to become closer with. While the land has adapted the tradition beyond romance, the core is still there. Necklaces are collections of shells and stones found throughout the year that are significant in some way to the Shiji crafting them. For those who normally don’t live on the shore, supplies such as silk, beads, shells, flowers, shark teeth, and sea glass are provided by many booths to help out. Tourists are encouraged to visit the beaches daily to try and find a centerpiece significant to their own experiences and memories to finish it off with.

Create a tropical island necklace for your Shiji.

Draw it, Write about it, create a collage, or physically create the necklace and submit it here.

Tropical Mhhh~!

Both above and below the waves, food is one of the biggest draws to the festival. Since these currents signify a time of plenty, feasts of unique varieties are expected. Many Aquatic Shiji-Long will bring specialties to the surface to share with land Shiji, and vice versa. Eventually, a competition began in celebration of these unique and beautiful dishes. Please the judges with not only something that tastes delicious, but looks amazing too! The bounty of the Islands and Sea are at your disposal- so craft your best tropical dish to celebrate!

Create a Tropical meal for your shiji to share.

Draw it, Write a recipe (with pictures and instructions), or physically cook the meal and submit it here.

You need a new dress!

Wherever there was a big gathering of Shiji-Long, merchants will follow. With all sorts of goods to sell, it's not surprising that fashion comes to everyone's mind. After all, the weather is beautiful, and the waves are clear! Look your best for the fun in the sun. Aquatics typically use this time to show off battle and ceremonial armor, but that doesn't mean you can't just rock your favorite bikini and soak in some rays. Merchants sell clothing, and for the particularly talented they sell fabric, so find something you like and feel amazing while you wear it!

Create a tropical island outfit for your Shiji.

Draw it, Write about it (and include references), create a collage, or physically create the outfit and submit it here.

Games!

The addition of land Shiji-Long to the custom has seen a rise of activities that many know as staples in festival life. There are countless things for both adults and children, but the most common include bobbing for apples, crafting flower crowns, styling one’s hair (with traditional Aquatic methods), building sand castles, participating in shell games (such as fishing and Shell Shuffle), racing crabs, causing water balloon fights, and even the classic limbo. With a nearly limitless number of activities, there's something for everyone.. even the ones who don't want to participate! So join in the fun, don't just watch ;)

Draw it, Write about it (and include references), create a collage, or physically create one of the games and submit it here.

You can redo this prompt for every game you come up with!

Underwater Treasure hunt!

Hosted by the Pingheng clan, Aquatic Shiji-Long will hide various types of treasures throughout the reef. These are not exceptionally extravagant, but are considered incredibly valuable to those who find them. This event has no time frame, as every Aquatic who participates will hide their objects at various times throughout the festival. Sometimes, unexpected treasures can be found in the most unlikely of places. What might you find beneath the waves?

Explore the underwater landscape with your Shiji.

Draw the adventure, Write about it, or physically create the special things your Shiji finds under the waves.

Water Fight!

Underneath the water, these competitions are in the grace of Shuiliu, Elder of the Pingheng clan, and can be for any matter of reason, conflict, or sport. While there are Aquatics that participate in the competitions above the shores, the land Shiji typically display their strength against each other in various challenges.
Have a grudge that you need settled? Make it offical!
Just want to fight? Sign up to challenge your strength, and go against opponents that match your strength.
Just a pup? Try the alternative "Water war" and throw bubbles full of water at your friends!

Fight another Shiji! go!

Draw it or write about the fight. You may use a random NPC, or another player's character (with consent). If you use another player's character, you can both submit the same prompt so long as effort was shared.

Send a Card!

The artistic ways are shared between water and land, creating a variety of pieces to collect and take part in. It is exceptionally common for many artists to visit the festival specifically for the sunrises and sunsets, where many will record with colors, paints, and even crystal photography. If you're gifted in the arts, use this moment to record your memories.. otherwise, why not help out an artist, and send home a beautifully made card to show off when you return to your day job?

Create a post card or piece of art for your Shiji to send back.

Draw it, write about it, create a collage, or craft the postcard that your Shiji sends Home!

One last Picture!

As the sun sets on the Paradise Island and the festival winds down to a close, join your fellow Shiji-Long in posing for a vacation photo! Put on your makeup, grab your drinks, and say "cheese"!
Draw or commission a transparent background picture, and attach the PNG to be added in to the large community image :)

Draw or commission your Shiji posing for their final farewell. Use the PSD file below, and include either the PSD or a transparent PNG in your submission.

All photos will be combined in the end for one big collage!
